Step 2. Meet your surgeon
You will be offered a further appointment with your consultant before progressing to surgery to discuss the Tummy Tuck procedure in more detail, as well as details of preparation and recovery.
Step 3. Preparation for Tummy Tuck surgery
The staff at Bella Vou will advise you on any pre-operative preparations to reduce your risk of infection and help your recovery.
You may be asked to stop taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication, which can increase the risk of bleeding. It’s important to stop smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes, which can impede the healing process.
You should continue to shower daily, as usual.
You will be advised about the time to start fasting in preparation for your general anaesthetic.
On the day of your surgery, you’ll be welcomed to Bella Vou and checked into one of our beautifully appointed recovery suites before being escorted to the state-of-the-art operating theatre.
Step 4. What happens during Tummy Tuck surgery?
Tummy Tuck surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. The surgeon cleans the skin then makes incisions from hip to hip and around the belly button. The surgeon will place the scars carefully so that they are hidden in the skin's natural folds and creases.
Your consultant will separate the skin from the tissues below, then realign and repair the abdominal muscles. They’ll cut away all the excess fat and skin, create a new hole for the belly button and then stitch this in place.
Finally, the surgeon will pull the skin so that it is smooth and tight, then stitch the wound closed using sutures that are absorbable and do not need to be removed.
Step 5. Recovery from a Tummy Tuck
After Tummy Tuck surgery, you will stay on the ward overnight and go home the following day. A friend or family member will need to pick you up and escort you home. You will be given pain-relief and a supportive compression garment to reduce pain, bleeding, and swelling.
Recovery from surger can take up to six weeks, but you may feel ready to return to work after two. From four to six weeks, you can start to slowly increase your activity level as you regain your strength and confidence.
You'll wear the pressure garments day and night during your recovery. These support the scar, reduce swelling and bruising, and help you stay comfortable.
Bella Vou staff will closely monitor your recovery. A week after surgery, the wound care specialist and nurse will check your scar. Your surgeon will check it again around six weeks after surgery.

Recovery-wise, I think it’s important to be honest for anyone considering this surgery: the first week is tough. I would strongly recommend having family or friends around to help with moving around, meals and keeping on top of medication. Between the anaesthetic and pain relief, I felt mainly drowsy, swollen and nauseous during that first week. However, the clinic were incredibly reassuring throughout and always available to answer questions, which helped enormously. The second week was significantly better. I was still walking slightly hunched over but was moving around the house much more confidently. Sleep improved and I became more comfortable wearing the compression garment. By the end of week two, I felt physically and mentally much brighter. I’m now at the beginning of week three and the difference compared to two weeks ago is incredible. My posture is almost completely back to normal, and whilst I still need to rest in the afternoons, I look and feel like myself again. One thing I would strongly recommend is taking a full two weeks off work if at all possible. I had optimistically scheduled a couple of work calls during week two and ended up needing to cancel them because my concentration still wasn’t fully there. In hindsight, I should have completely blocked out those two weeks from the start. Overall, I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience and feel very grateful to the entire Bella Vou team.

Im not going to lie, surgery is a big deal and you have to be an a certain place to get to this point. The morning of my surgery I was collected by Joe who brought me to Bella Vou. He was extremely considerate and calming as I’d told him I was nervous and kept talking to me the whole way. Surgery went amazingly well! I was monitored closely and never felt any pain as the lovely Jason and Gabriella were by my side the whole time (thank you guys!) The following morning I woke up and were shown my results and my goodness I was completely blown away – never in my wildest dreams did I expect them to be as amazing as they were. Bella Vou clinic offers an elite customer experience from day 1. My surgeon Radovan Boca was an extremely confident, efficient and experienced surgeon which was evident from the first consultation! My case was complex, with a 360 circumferential tummy tuck, muscle repair and hernia repair needed, as well as 4 sites of liposuction, following 40kg/7 stone weight loss. On the assessment I was given a clear treatment plan and fees were transparent from the first meeting with my patient coordinator Stacie… On surgery day the full team were absolutely incredible. I was reassured by my recovery nurse Kelly on what would happen. The anaesthetist also came to meet me to provide details of the surgery plan. Rado then spent extra time on the marking up process to ensure he had a very comprehensive plan during surgery itself. The surgery went very well (Rado removed 8.5kg/1 stone 4lbs of skin/fat) and I was very comfortable in the recovery suite which was equipped with all your requirements (toiletries, robe, towels). The night / discharge team (Olinda, Juliana, Wurola, Sylvette) were all brilliant and on hand to assist, especially as my blood pressure was very low and not behaving! In November 2023 I booked a full abdominoplasty and vaser lipo with Amir. I visited for my initial consult and knew straight away that i had found the right surgeon, Amir was compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. Fast forward to the 18th of January and my surgery day, Amir was understanding of how nerve wracking surgery can be and i felt at ease from the moment I walked into the building. I was in theatre a lot longer than planned due to an umbilical hernia and extra muscle repair, Amir is a perfectionist and made sure all was well and to his high standards before finishing the surgery. I’ve had a minor umbilical complication which is unfortunately one of the risks associated with this procedure. I gained 5 stones in both of my pregnancies and breast fed for a year with each baby, and despite lots of hard work in the gym, there was no chance that my body would ever recover. At the age of 40, I have good muscle tone and low body fat (bmi of 20), but all of that was hidden under loose and saggy skin. I also had quite a large separation of my abdominal muscles, which meant my stomach protruded, despite being slim… I booked in for a circumferential tummy tuck, breast lift and implants and had my surgery at the end of November. It was a long operation (around 8 hours) and I stayed overnight at the clinic. There were really, *really* lovely nurses caring for me overnight… I’m 4 months ish post surgery and… my body looks AWESOME. Amir should work for Mattel, because he’s given me a body like Barbie. I’ve never had a body this good – even as an 18 year old my boobs weren’t this symmetrical and perky or my stomach this flat. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner. So, I can’t rate Amir highly enough, he really is a brilliant surgeon with an astute eye for what will suit his patients, but I also want to praise Bella Vou as a clinic overall. The first time I met Rado I was a shell of my true self. Weighed down by my previous surgery after a cervical cancer diagnosis. I didn’t love myself or my body. Rado declined to operate on me at our first consultation. From the moment I made contact with Bella Vou and going to the clinic I knew this was the place for me to have my surgery. The staff are amazing and my patient coordinator Julia has been available and with me every step of the way nothing is too much for her. Rado my surgeon is amazing and put me at ease as soon as we met and was honest about my results and advice from the beginning. We have laughed through the process and again nothing is too much or no question is too silly and he will answer you. I’ve read lots of reviews about Jason the nurse and I was lucky to have him as my dedicated nurse the day of surgery. He has such a lovely bedside manner and is so caring and attentive towards his patients he made my first few hours after surgery easy. The aftercare at Bella Vou is amazing and you’re sent away with peace of mind that someone is there for you 24/7 lots of medication and I was left comfortable. With my research, I thought I would have more downtime than I actually have. All the other staff I’ve come across are also lovely however can’t name them. My scar is amazing and neat. If you are thinking of surgery I would highly recommend Bella Vou.

When I set foot in this clinic for the first time I was impressed by the professionalism, friendliness and genuine sense of the “patient being top priority”. In my initial appointment, Amir patiently answered all my questions relating to abdominoplasty… I felt very safe and reassured that the patient’s Interests were put first at all times and above any other considerations. The day of the surgery arrived, and I was looked after by a very friendly, kind and attentive team who were there whenever I needed anything. From stepping foot at Bella Vou I knew this was the right place for me Amir was lovely from the get-go and made me feel at ease and listened to what I wanted so I booked in with him. I had male skin removal surgery after weight loss. 360 tummy tuck, chest skin removal and inner thigh. I had all three done same day… I had some revision surgery at about 15 months after the initial, some liposuction around the flanks, and some additional skin removed from the chest. This was included in my original fee as part of their revision policy, really great that Amir did this additional surgery for me…it really elevated my results especially in the chest area which is now everything I was hoping for, it’s literally removed all sagging whether stood up straight or leaning right over. Hi, I decided to go to Bella Vou after researching my surgeon, Amir Nakhejevani, who is fully qualified with many years of experience. I wanted him to perform my abdominoplasty with liposuction. I found it a very reassuring experience when I first went to Bella Vou and realized how professionally the clinic was set up and how friendly all the staff were…After the procedure, I stayed in Tunbridge Wells for a week to have my daily lymphatic drainage massages. Which was included in the price. I found this to be very helpful and Nikki was not only very experienced but was also very knowledgeable of my procedure. I looked forward to seeing her daily for our little chats, in addition to my massages. The aftercare was also very good, I do not live very near but if needed, I could always have a video call in addition to visiting the clinic for any concerns I had. I’m not sure where to start with my experience at Bella Vou, I just know that I felt confident with Amir’s skills from the outset. Everything was explained in great detail and I could not be happier with the results. A previous surgery had left me with an off centre tummy button and without the shape I was hoping for. Using Vaser liposuction with abdominoplasty surgery Amir reshaped my whole torso, removing excess fat from my hips and giving me a central tummy button again. I have had surgeries performed by Amir (tummy tuck, breast reduction, liposuction of chin, arms, thighs, back, and buccal fat reduction). I have also spoken to Amir about other procedures I was interested in, but he was very honest and said the risks and expected outcomes wouldn’t make it worth my money/time/risk. I have had an outstanding experience with Amir Sadr at Bella Vou from start to finish. Firstly, at my initial consult, which was free of charge, and not hurried at all. Amir answered all my questions and made me feel really comfortable. He is clearly very passionate about what he does and he will only operate if he feels it is the right thing for the patient. I went on to have a tummy tuck and brow lift at Bella Vou in October 2021, receiving excellent care both on the day (general anaesthetic and an overnight stay), and in the following weeks during the healing process. A year later in October 2022 I had an upper eyelid lift (Blepharoplasty) under local anaesthetic walk in/walk out which I am recovering from now. I really cannot fault Bella Vou at all and would recommend them without hesitation… My healing process went pretty smoothly, but even so I returned to have checkups and dressings changed etc. which was very reassuring. One year on – my results are absolutely amazing, I have had some adjustments to the ends of the incision lines, and the scarring is minimal, almost invisible in its flatness and colour, well positioned inside underwear or swimwear… I would absolutely recommend Amir and his wonderful team – thank you all so much for transforming my life.

If you’re considering having a tummy tuck, this is the consultant to go to!… I am four weeks post-op now and I am driving and have returned to work. Everyone is impressed with my flat washboard stomach, I may even have to invest in some crop tops for the summer?!!! Amir’s specialist surgical technique means there is no need for drains, (which some other Consultants use) so the recovery time is quicker. I have even read on this site some abdominoplasty patients use a walker afterwards! – not with Amir, he had me up the next day walking and encouraging me to stand up straight… I also had an unsightly appendix scar removed. I was told it takes about 5 months for all the swelling to go down and for things to settle. I had about 200 internal stitches where Amir sewed back together my front muscles and he contoured the sides…I have seen Amir for a follow up and he is very pleased with my result. My hip-width scar is below my bikini line & healing well, this in time will fade to a thin silver line. Amir said that contouring my side muscles will give me a defined waist – I can’t wait as I’ve never had one of these before! I am so happy with the result, which Amir said will keep improving over the next few months, Im more than happy with how it looks now, but bring it on!…

From my first consultation through to post-op support Amir and his team have been absolutely first-class. In my mid-forties and following large weight loss I was left with a significant belly overhang and excess skin, causing me pain, skin infections and discomfort. I spent years tucking it all away into Spanx, and oversized clothing and trying to disguise the excess…Amir completed a drainless tummy tuck, muscle repair and monsplasty for me, resulting in almost 7lbs of skin removal and a whole dress size smaller!!! The Bella Vou Clinic is impressive: everyone is super polite, efficient, and very helpful. Todays modern world is dominated by impatience and shabby standards yet Bella Vou is like stepping into another planet. Questions and concerns are welcomed and the team want you to be happy and as reassured as possible. Amir is an excellent surgeon caring and informative & wants to do the best for you. He will examine you and then steer you to the right treatment and explain how it all comes together to give you the best outcome. My abdominoplasty saved my life: I had 3 bad scars from my appendix, C-section and hysterectomy, and as a size 10 looked butchered, crooked & distended. I now have one clean line of scar tissue and a calm flat abdomen again. The surgery took place in March 2018 and 15 months on the scar is discrete and flat. A transformation and I feel so much more comfortable.

… I’ve lost 6st, and finished having babies, I hate my mummy pouch from a c section and 4 babies and too much cake. I decide I want a tummy tuck and knew the person I’d want to do it would be Hagen, So…a month later I was booked in for a full tummy tuck and flank lipo. He was available via text or phone in the run-up to answer any silly questions I came up with…Hagen came in and we had a laugh and joke and I felt completely at ease, Hagen explained the procedure, drew the lines and we ran through the consent form, I walked around to the theatre, relaxed and calm, and woke up in my compression garment, a new women… I go home and start my recovery, again any worries or concerns I have he is available and replies promptly every time… From start to finish this surgeon has gone above and beyond and I am so happy to of had the privilege of having my surgery done by him. So I am 3 weeks since my op I had no pain I had VDL and boob job best thing I did. Didn’t even notice I had a boob job no pain I must admit I was a little uncomfortable with my stomach but no pain so happy. Only problem is one part of my scar not healing great Dr Amir has been great seeing me all the time keeping an eye on it and so now I have a vacuum pack on to help the smallest part to heal. Everything else has healed so well the boobs look great and I am so happy. Bella Vou has been the best, nothing too much for them email them and they reply straight away, call they help I highly recommend feel like I have been looked after so well, and it shows with the results I have.
