Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

A truly unique tummy tuck surgery to give you a more sculpted, smoother, toned abdomen with a finer and lower scar, all without the use of drains.

TUMMY TUCK TREATMENT OVERVIEW

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure used to remove loose and overhanging skin and tighten, smooth, and recontour the abdomen. During tummy tuck surgery, the aesthetic surgeons remove excess skin and fat; they can also tighten the abdominal muscles to create a tauter and more toned tummy.

Bella Vou has developed an innovative new type of abdominoplasty, the KORSET™ Tummy Tuck, to create a sculpted and toned tummy. The revolutionary technique creates a more modern, contoured silhouette. The surgeon removes extra skin, tightens the abdominal muscles and creates definition in the champaign groove (the line that runs above and below the belly button) together with abdominal dips running down towards the hips and reshaping the belly button.

The swelling can last 3 to 6 months before you can see the final result of your surgery.

At Bella Vou we provide various payment options meaning you can spread the cost and enjoy a confident outlook at a price you can afford.

Please book a complimentary consultation to discuss your exact requirements with our cosmetic surgeons, but typically prices start as shown below

Tummy tuck surgery is most commonly sought to remove excess skin and fat where diet and exercise alone hasn’t left you feeling comfortable with your appearance and where the abdominal muscles have separated, a tummy tuck may provide relief from poor posture and lower back ache. Other patients have this procedure and, in most cases, to repair separated abdominal muscles, which can contribute to poor posture and back ache. A tummy tuck is effective in treating both concerns. A tummy tuck may also be combined with liposuction for greater contouring.

For women, in most cases, abdominal muscles will have separated to some degree as a result of childbirth and in these cases, a repair should be undertaken to improve results.

Women and men opt for tummy tuck surgery:

• If they have excess skin and separated muscles (for women this is usually the case after having children)
• As part of a hernia repair
• To remove unwanted stretch marks or scars
• If they have loose skin after earlier weight loss
• If due to ageing, they may have loose skin around the abdomen
• If a stubborn area may persist that they are unable to shift through exercise

The causes of a flabby abdomen can be:

• Accumulation of fat
• Poor elasticity of the skin
• Excess skin after weight loss or pregnancy
• The stretching of the inner girdle of connective tissue and muscles which hold the internal organs in place, and is responsible for tone and the appearance of the abdomen

A tummy tuck is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure to re-shape the abdomen and achieve a flatter, slimmer and more confident you, so that you can look and feel comfortable in and outside of your clothes.

Jane's Tummy Tuck Story

YOUR SIMPLE
5 STEP
JOURNEY

YOUR SIMPLE 5 STEP JOURNEY

Step 1. Free, no-obligation consultation

Bella Vou offers every client a free consultation with an expert, accredited plastic surgeon, with no obligation to proceed to treatment. The consultation is an opportunity to discuss your concerns and whether a Tummy Tuck is the right procedure to help you achieve the appearance you want.

Bella Vou also offers innovative, new techniques for treating loose skin and excess fatty tissue. The experienced plastic surgeons can advise on whether Vaser Liposculpture, together with either Renuvion skin tightening or BodyTite treatment may provide smaller scars, quicker recovery, and a better cosmetic result.

Bella Vou will always give you an honest and impartial professional opinion. Mr Amir Nakhdjevani says:

‘We make sure that we advise people correctly about whether surgery is right for them. We treat everyone as if they were our family. We might turn people away, suggest alternative treatments, or we may suggest that they go to a different specialist at another establishment. If someone is uncertain about an operation, we're happy to see them several times, without a consultation charge. At Bella Vou, we never pressurise people or try to sell procedures. It's always about giving an honest opinion and honest advice.’

Step 2. Meet your surgeon

You will be offered a further appointment with your consultant before proceeding to surgery. This will give you a chance to find out more about the Tummy Tuck, your preparation, and recovery.

Step 3. Preparation for Tummy Tuck surgery

The staff at Bella Vou will advise you on any pre-operative preparations to reduce your risk of infection and help your recovery.

You may be asked to stop taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication, which can increase the risk of bleeding. It’s important to stop smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes, which can impede the healing process. You should continue to shower daily, as usual. You will be advised about the time to start fasting in preparation for your general anaesthetic.

On the day of your surgery, you’ll be welcomed to Bella Vou, given a gown to wear and escorted to the state-of-the-art operating theatre.

Step 4. What happens during Tummy Tuck surgery?

Tummy Tuck surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. The surgeon cleans the skin then makes incisions from hip to hip and around the belly button. The surgeon will place the scars carefully so that they are hidden in the skin's natural folds and creases.

Your consultant will separate the skin from the tissues below, then realign the abdominal muscles. They’ll cut away all the excess fat and skin, create a new hole for the belly button and then stitch this in place.

Finally, the surgeon will pull the skin so that it is smooth and tight, then stitch the wound closed using sutures that are absorbable and do not need to be removed.

Step 5. Recovery from a Tummy Tuck

You will stay on the ward overnight following Tummy Tuck surgery. The following day you will be able to go home. It’s important to arrange for a friend or family member to pick you up and escort you. You will be given pain-relief and a supportive pressure garment to reduce pain, bleeding, and swelling.

It takes around six weeks to recover fully; however, after two weeks, you may feel ready to return to work. From four to six weeks, you can reintroduce exercise, gradually increasing activity as you regain fitness, strength, and confidence.

You'll wear the pressure garments day and night during your recovery. These support the scar, reduce swelling and bruising, and help you stay comfortable.

The staff at Bella Vou will carefully monitor your recovery. After a week, the wound care specialist and nurse will check your scar. At around six weeks, your surgeon will check your progress, and at six months, the nurse and wound care specialist will see you again to ensure that you remain healthy, well, and happy with your results. However, if you have any questions or concerns, the staff at Bella Vou are always on hand to offer support, day and night.
