Step 2. Meet your surgeon
You will be offered a further appointment with your consultant before progressing to surgery to discuss the tummy tuck procedure in more detail, as well as details of preparation and recovery.
STEP 3. PREPARATION FOR MINI TUMMY TUCK SURGERY
The staff at Bella Vou will advise you on any pre-operative preparations to reduce your risk of infection and help your recovery.
You may be asked to stop taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication, which can increase the risk of bleeding. It’s important to stop smoking cigarettes, e-cigarettes and vaping, all of which can impede the healing process.
You should continue to shower daily, as usual.
You will be advised about the time to start fasting in preparation for your general anaesthetic.
On the day of your surgery, you’ll be welcomed to Bella Vou and checked into one of our beautifully appointed recovery suites before being escorted to the state-of-the-art operating theatre.
STEP 4. WHAT HAPPENS DURING MINI TUMMY TUCK SURGERY?
Mini tummy tuck surgery is performed under general anaesthetic. The surgeon cleans the skin and then a small incision is made just above the pubic area, allowing the surgeon to access the lower abdomen.
Excess skin and fatty tissue are removed, and the underlying muscles may be tightened if necessary. Unlike a full tummy tuck, the belly button isn't affected during this procedure, which means it remains in its natural position and there is no scar around the naval; the only visible scar is hidden below the knicker line. This procedure is less extensive than a full tummy tuck, so it typically takes less time and involves a quicker recovery. Since it focuses on the lower abdomen, it is an ideal option for individuals with mild loose skin in that area.
The incision is strategically placed to minimise visible scarring. After the surgery, patients wear compression garments to support the healing process and achieve a smoother, firmer lower abdomen.
STEP 5. RECOVERY FROM A MINI TUMMY TUCK
Recovery from a mini tummy tuck is relatively quicker and less extensive compared to a full tummy tuck. The typical recovery period for a mini tummy tuck is approximately six weeks. However, some individuals might experience a quicker return to normal activities, sometimes as early as two weeks. It's important to note that the pace of recovery can vary among patients.
In the initial days post-surgery, patients may experience discomfort, swelling, and bruising in the treated area, managed with prescribed pain medication. I have had an excellent experience with Bella Vou and would highly recommend the clinic to anyone considering surgery. I recently underwent an abdominoplasty and hernia repair with Mr Dr Amir Nakhdjevani. Whilst I didn’t have excessive amounts of loose skin, I had post-pregnancy wrinkling above my belly button, stretch marks, and diastasis (abdominal separation), which meant my abs never really reflected the effort I put in at the gym. I first chose Bella Vou after seeing Dr Amir featured on ITV’s Olivia Attwood: The Price of Perfection and was immediately struck by his warm yet professional manner. Alongside this, Bella Vou’s complimentary consultation service and complete lack of pressure really appealed to me. It genuinely felt as though they put the client first, which isn’t always a given. The clinic itself feels more like a five-star hotel than a medical facility — elegant, spotless, calm and welcoming. Every member of staff strikes the perfect balance between friendly and professional. Dr Amir is clearly exceptional at what he does; he communicates with expertise and honesty, manages expectations clearly, and makes you feel completely safe and confident in his hands. The surgery itself lasted around 2.5 hours. The overnight care was also fantastic — the night staff were incredible, I was able to order complimentary Deliveroo, watch Netflix, and my husband was able to stay with me for most of the evening, which made a huge difference. I also received a beautiful bouquet of flowers once I arrived home – such a thoughtful touch. Recovery-wise, I think it’s important to be honest for anyone considering this surgery: the first week is tough. I would strongly recommend having family or friends around to help with moving around, meals and keeping on top of medication. Between the anaesthetic and pain relief, I felt mainly drowsy, swollen and nauseous during that first week. However, the clinic were incredibly reassuring throughout and always available to answer questions, which helped enormously. The second week was significantly better. I was still walking slightly hunched over but was moving around the house much more confidently. Sleep improved and I became more comfortable wearing the compression garment. By the end of week two, I felt physically and mentally much brighter. I’m now at the beginning of week three and the difference compared to two weeks ago is incredible. My posture is almost completely back to normal, and whilst I still need to rest in the afternoons, I look and feel like myself again. One thing I would strongly recommend is taking a full two weeks off work if at all possible. I had optimistically scheduled a couple of work calls during week two and ended up needing to cancel them because my concentration still wasn’t fully there. In hindsight, I should have completely blocked out those two weeks from the start. Overall, I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience and feel very grateful to the entire Bella Vou team.

Im not going to lie, surgery is a big deal and you have to be an a certain place to get to this point. My case was complex, with a 360 circumferential tummy tuck, muscle repair and hernia repair needed, as well as 4 sites of liposuction, following 40kg/7 stone weight loss. On the assessment I was given a clear treatment plan and fees were transparent from the first meeting with my patient coordinator Stacie… On surgery day the full team were absolutely incredible. I was reassured by my recovery nurse Kelly on what would happen. The anaesthetist also came to meet me to provide details of the surgery plan. Rado then spent extra time on the marking up process to ensure he had a very comprehensive plan during surgery itself. The surgery went very well (Rado removed 8.5kg/1 stone 4lbs of skin/fat) and I was very comfortable in the recovery suite which was equipped with all your requirements (toiletries, robe, towels). In November 2023 I booked a full abdominoplasty and vaser lipo with Amir. I visited for my initial consult and knew straight away that i had found the right surgeon, Amir was compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. I was in theatre a lot longer than planned due to an umbilical hernia and extra muscle repair, Amir is a perfectionist and made sure all was well and to his high standards before finishing the surgery. I gained 5 stones in both of my pregnancies and breast fed for a year with each baby, and despite lots of hard work in the gym, there was no chance that my body would ever recover. At the age of 40, I have good muscle tone and low body fat (bmi of 20), but all of that was hidden under loose and saggy skin. I also had quite a large separation of my abdominal muscles, which meant my stomach protruded, despite being slim… I booked in for a circumferential tummy tuck, breast lift and implants and had my surgery at the end of November. It was a long operation (around 8 hours) and I stayed overnight at the clinic. There were really, *really* lovely nurses caring for me overnight… I’m 4 months ish post surgery and… my body looks AWESOME. Amir should work for Mattel, because he’s given me a body like Barbie. I had all three done same day… I had some revision surgery at about 15 months after the initial, some liposuction around the flanks, and some additional skin removed from the chest. Hi, I decided to go to Bella Vou after researching my surgeon, Amir Nakhejevani, who is fully qualified with many years of experience. I wanted him to perform my abdominoplasty with liposuction. I found it a very reassuring experience when I first went to Bella Vou and realized how professionally the clinic was set up and how friendly all the staff were…After the procedure, I stayed in Tunbridge Wells for a week to have my daily lymphatic drainage massages. Which was included in the price. I found this to be very helpful and Nikki was not only very experienced but was also very knowledgeable of my procedure. The aftercare was also very good, I do not live very near but if needed, I could always have a video call in addition to visiting the clinic for any concerns I had. Everything was explained in great detail and I could not be happier with the results. A previous surgery had left me with an off centre tummy button and without the shape I was hoping for. Amir Nakhdjevani is a surgeon with excellent talent and professional integrity. I would say these are the two most important things to look for when trusting someone with your body. I have had surgeries performed by Amir (tummy tuck, breast reduction, liposuction of chin, arms, thighs, back, and buccal fat reduction). I have also spoken to Amir about other procedures I was interested in, but he was very honest and said the risks and expected outcomes wouldn’t make it worth my money/time/risk. I have had an outstanding experience with Amir Sadr at Bella Vou from start to finish. Firstly, at my initial consult, which was free of charge, and not hurried at all. Amir answered all my questions and made me feel really comfortable. He is clearly very passionate about what he does and he will only operate if he feels it is the right thing for the patient. I went on to have a tummy tuck and brow lift at Bella Vou in October 2021, receiving excellent care both on the day (general anaesthetic and an overnight stay), and in the following weeks during the healing process. A year later in October 2022 I had an upper eyelid lift (Blepharoplasty) under local anaesthetic walk in/walk out which I am recovering from now. I was told it takes about 5 months for all the swelling to go down and for things to settle. I had about 200 internal stitches where Amir sewed back together my front muscles and he contoured the sides…I have seen Amir for a follow up and he is very pleased with my result. My hip-width scar is below my bikini line & healing well, this in time will fade to a thin silver line.
