Sophie's Story

Location: Buckinghamshire

Age: 32 Years

Treatment(s): Mummy Makeover

“Just because you’re a mum doesn’t mean you can’t make these decisions to have surgery. [I hope] the show brings a bit of normality to the process—and helps normalise putting yourself first.”

Like many mums, Sophie found that motherhood changed her body in ways she hadn’t expected—and couldn’t easily reverse. Despite working hard to feel like herself again, she found certain changes—like excess skin, loss of breast volume, and a weakened core—were impossible to shift through lifestyle alone. That’s when she started to consider a Mummy Makeover.

“I’m so much more confident in myself now,” Sophie reflects, six months after her surgery. “It makes day-to-day life so much easier—just things like going shopping and putting on clothes.”

Her transformation was both physical and emotional, and her experience is now being shared with a national audience through ITV’s Price of Perfection, airing from June 12th. Her story is one of empowerment, honesty, and what it really means to reclaim your body after motherhood.

Why Sophie Chose a Mummy Makeover

Sophie’s decision wasn’t taken lightly. After giving birth, she, like many women, found herself dealing with a body that felt unfamiliar. Despite being fit and healthy, she struggled with abdominal laxity and sagging breasts—common issues after pregnancy.

A Mummy Makeover, which typically includes a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and breast surgery (augmentation and/or uplift), offered a solution that was both restorative and confidence-building.

Her choice to document the process on television wasn’t just about aesthetics. It was about showing the reality of post-pregnancy surgery and helping other women feel less alone in their decisions.

Filming the Process: Surgery on Camera

Being filmed while undergoing surgery might sound intimidating to most, and Sophie admits she felt apprehensive at first. “I was pretty nervous about having a camera crew follow me into surgery,” she says. “But I was really confident in where I was, who I was with, and what I was having done.”

Confidence in her surgical team—and in her own decision—helped her stay grounded. She was more intrigued than afraid, and even looked forward to seeing what many patients never get to witness: the surgery itself. “I really want to watch my surgery and see what it looked like. I’m weird..." she joked. "I actually wanted to see them pull my skin back, put my muscles back together, and make my belly button.”

Normalising Cosmetic Surgery for Mums

Throughout her journey, Sophie has remained candid about the emotional weight that comes with cosmetic surgery—especially for mothers. There’s still stigma attached to the idea of changing your body after having children, and she hopes her story can challenge that.

“Just because you’re a mum doesn’t mean you can’t make these decisions to have surgery,” she says. “I would hope the show brings a bit of normality to the process—and helps normalise putting yourself first.”

For Sophie, the makeover wasn’t about vanity. It was about comfort, function, and feeling at home in her body again.

“It wasn’t just cosmetic for me,” she explains. “It was also practical—having all that excess skin in the way, not having a strong core. Just having that functionality back has been really great.”

The Emotional Journey

Despite the cameras and the surgical setting, Sophie says the journey wasn’t overwhelming. In fact, she was mostly excited. “I don’t think I felt emotional—I think I felt excited throughout all of it. It was a buzz,” she says. “I wasn’t really nervous until I went into theatre. Then I had a little wobble.”

Still, the overall experience left her feeling empowered—not because she was on camera, but because she made a decision that was right for her.

“It was empowering because I’d chosen to do something for myself—something I believed in.”

Looking Back—and Ahead

Now that her surgery is behind her and her TV debut is around the corner, Sophie has had time to reflect. If she could speak to her pre-surgery self, she knows exactly what she’d say.

“I would say: trust the process. The results will come. You’ve done your research—trust yourself.”

Looking ahead, she hopes that other women—especially mums—watching her story will take something valuable away from it.

“I want people to understand that just because you’re a mum, you can still want to feel confident. You can still look after yourself. It doesn’t take away from being a mum—you’re still you.”
