UltraClear Laser Resurfacing uses fractional cold laser technology  to treat tiny areas of your skin, while leaving the surrounding skin untouched. This process encourages your skin to heal and produce new collagen, helping it look smoother and fresher. Because the laser doesn’t build up much heat, the treatment is more comfortable and recovery is much quicker than with older types of lasers. 

What’s the Ideal Age to have this treatment? 

There’s no strict “ideal” age with suitability depending on your skin’s condition rather than age alone. Typically, patients in their mid-30s and beyond choose UltraClear to address fine lines, uneven texture, pigmentation, or to maintain youthful, healthy skin.

Most patients describe mild to moderate discomfort. Numbing cream significantly reduces sensitivity, and the cold-fibre technology makes treatment far more comfortable than traditional lasers.

Scarring is very rare with UltraClear when performed by expert practitioners and followed with appropriate aftercare. Because the laser treats microscopic areas and spares surrounding skin, it promotes natural regeneration rather than damaging large surface areas. Temporary effects like redness, mild swelling or pigmentation changes can occur, but permanent scars are uncommon. Full risks are outlined and discussed during your consultation, so you feel safe, prepared and confident. 

Many patients notice visible improvement after just one session - including smoother texture, brighter tone and a more refined complexion. However, depending on your goals and the depth of texture or scarring being treated, a short course of treatments may be recommended to maximise results. Before treatment you are advised to stop using retinoids, glycolic acids, AHA/BHA products, scrubs, or strong peels for at least one week. You should avoid tanning or self-tanning and minimise sun exposure. Certain medications (such as blood thinners) may need to be paused but only under your doctor’s guidance. 

Absolutely. UltraClear is often combined with surgical procedures, such as facelifts, injectables or other skin treatments to enhance overall results. Your specialist will advise on the best combination for your goals.

• For Skin Brightening and Refresh (lightest treatment, superficial 3DMiracl setting to brighten and refresh skin) prices are c.£850 per session.

A 'Typical Session' of UltraClear lasts about 10–30 minutes for a full face or target area — often described as a “lunchtime treatment”.
