S.H, 63, from Kent, found that dieting and exercising alone wasn’t enough to shift stubborn fat cells. In May 2020, he had gynaecomastia surgery with Vaser liposuction to his abdomen and flanks, with excision of excess skin. Here he describes his experience at Bella Vou.
When you get to my age, you have so many stubborn fat cells that are hard to get rid of. I’d lived a boring life of dieting and exercising for the past few years, and I’d look in the mirror and think “after all this, I’d hoped to look different”. A good friend of mine who’d had eyelid surgery with Amir Nakhdjevani at Bella Vou kept going on and on about how wonderful her experience was and suggested that I look at options that might help me in my pursuit for the body I wanted.
I booked a consultation with Amir Nakhdjevani soon after, and I immediately knew that this was what I wanted. Amir Nakhdjevani is incredibly charming and he put my mind at rest. He really knows his stuff, and the way he described things was very clear. He gave me a variety of options to choose from, each very honest, and he explained each one in great detail so that I could make the best decision for me. Trust was immediately developed, and my confidence in the clinic was instantly built up. I decided to have male breast reduction with Vaser liposuction to my abdomen and flanks to remove excess fat and tissue. The next available appointment was in two weeks time, so I jumped at the opportunity and booked in right away.

On the day of the surgery, I came in and was met by Scott, the nurse, who was really gentle and friendly and went through all the pre-op checks. Everybody came to see me, including the anaesthetist, and they talked me through what would happen, including the pain I might experience after the operation (although luckily I didn’t experience much at all).
Off I went to theatre, and after a few minutes of chatting, the next thing I knew I was waking up with Scott by my side, making sure that I wasn’t in pain. All in all it was a fantastic experience; absolutely first class. It was very professional, a beautiful place, the people were amazing and the results are out of this world - even better than I was expecting. When I first considered having the surgery, I was apprehensive, but it was all unfounded and looking back it was all fantastic - pre, during and after.
The first week post-op I took it easy, as you would after any reasonably big operation and after going under general anaesthetic, but within a week I started driving again and the week after that I was more or less back to normal.
All in all it was a fantastic experience; absolutely first class. It was very professional, a beautiful place, the people were amazing and the results are out of this world - even better than I was expecting.
I’m amazed with the surgery - I have a six pack for the first time in my life, my friends and family are hugely impressed and I feel more cheerful taking my clothes off. It really is better than I even wished for. I’m incredibly glad that I did it, and I’m particularly excited to go swimming and show everyone my six pack! Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and the only regret I have is that I didn’t do it earlier.
This is something that I hugely recommend, and I want to really express my heartfelt thanks to everyone that I’ve dealt with at Bella Vou. Without sounding too sickly, my whole experience was absolutely stunning. They’re a fantastic team who really look after you, from the receptionists through to Amir Nakhdjevani and beyond, and they deserve every bit of praise they receive.

In November 2023 I booked a full abdominoplasty and vaser lipo with Amir. I visited for my initial consult and knew straight away that i had found the right surgeon, Amir was compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. Fast forward to the 18th of January and my surgery day, Amir was understanding of how nerve wracking surgery can be and i felt at ease from the moment I walked into the building. I was in theatre a lot longer than planned due to an umbilical hernia and extra muscle repair, Amir is a perfectionist and made sure all was well and to his high standards before finishing the surgery. I’ve had a minor umbilical complication which is unfortunately one of the risks associated with this procedure. But the aftercare I have received from Amir and his team has been second to none and I could not be happier with my results. I look forward to my umbilical correction in a few months. I really cannot thank Amir enough and would recommend him to anyone looking for a cosmetic surgeon.
