Will I lose sensation in the area following this surgery?

Immediately following surgery, the area will be numb for at least 4-5 hours due to local anaesthetic given at the time of your procedure. Following your treatment, you will have some swelling which typically alters the sensation, but this will return once the swelling subsides.

Nipple sensation tends to not be affected following the surgery and post-operative recovery. However, if there is bruising and swelling in the area, then nipple sensation can be subdued for much longer.

Generally, the nipple sensation does not change much. There is a greater chance of nipple sensory changes following a breast reduction, where more tissue is being removed.
