Siobhan Hirst, aged 49, from Somerset, had a saggy neck as a result of weight loss. In September 2021, she had a Concept Face and Neck Lift with Bella Vou. Here she shares her story and explains why it’s the best thing she’s ever done...
About five years ago I lost more than three stone, and had a saggy neck as a result. I hated it and it bothered me every single day. I used Botox and fillers here and there, and it made me sad that my face didn’t match my neck. I’ve always prided myself on taking care of my appearance and looking presentable - I don’t go out in the sun, I use retinol and have a good skincare regime, but I looked like I had a really long face and I didn’t feel like myself.
I spent the past three years trying everything: profhilo, threads and very expensive creams, and I lost more weight in this time too. Having realised that I would only get the result I wanted through surgery, I began to look for a surgeon that performed the operation under a local anaesthetic. I have quite bad health anxiety and I really didn’t want to go under general anaesthetic if I didn’t have to.
It was my daughter that first found out about Amir, and having seen his before and after pictures for Concept Face and Neck Lift surgery, there was no question that I wanted to go with him. I liked the idea of going with someone who is incredibly experienced with people’s faces, and I knew he had long-standing expertise and had performed a huge number of face and neck lifts. Some of the results I saw were amazing, and on necks worse than mine!
My pre-surgical experience was great. It was very informative. As I’m based in Somerset and the clinic is in Kent, I did everything on the phone and Zoom, and I knew I could trust Amir straight away.
My daughter drove me to Bella Vou on the day of the surgery, and in the waiting room, there was a lovely spa-like atmosphere. I took a picture and sent it to my children and they couldn’t believe it was a clinic! I was a little scared going into theatre - that’s when it hit home that I was actually having surgery - but Amir and his staff were lovely, putting me at ease straight away. I was excited to get on with the operation and get it behind me.
My pre-surgical experience was great. It was very informative.
Since it was all done under local anaesthetic, I could leave almost straight after the surgery, and the fact I could come home so quickly was a definite plus point.
It’s only been a month, but my follow-up and post-care experience has been really good so far. I’ve had great pain management and advice, and am recuperating at home really well. The scars are healing nicely, and some of them are practically non-existent already.
It’s very difficult to put into words how much the operation meant to me. When I saw my neck for the first time in the mirror, I cried because I felt like my old self for the first time in five years. I have a much tighter, tauter and nicer lower face and neck. I honestly didn’t think it would be as good as this, it’s taken 10 years off! I’m nearly 50 and people now think I’m in my late 30s or early 40s!

If you are thinking about having this procedure, then don’t hesitate, I would 100% recommend anybody to go ahead with this. Amir has made a massive difference to the way I feel about myself on a day-to-day basis. His expertise and kindness is wonderful and let’s face it, when having surgery of any type you do want to be put at ease which he and his staff do beautifully.
If you are thinking about having this procedure, then don’t hesitate, I would 100% recommend anybody to go ahead with this. Amir has made a massive difference to the way I feel about myself on a day-to-day basis.

In November 2023 I booked a full abdominoplasty and vaser lipo with Amir. I visited for my initial consult and knew straight away that i had found the right surgeon, Amir was compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. Fast forward to the 18th of January and my surgery day, Amir was understanding of how nerve wracking surgery can be and i felt at ease from the moment I walked into the building. I was in theatre a lot longer than planned due to an umbilical hernia and extra muscle repair, Amir is a perfectionist and made sure all was well and to his high standards before finishing the surgery. I’ve had a minor umbilical complication which is unfortunately one of the risks associated with this procedure. But the aftercare I have received from Amir and his team has been second to none and I could not be happier with my results. I look forward to my umbilical correction in a few months.
