Skincare Tips For The Summer

No more jeans or baggy jumpers please, flip-flops out and toe nails polished. Let’s get summer ready, prepared to be spending day after day laid on the beach or by the pool!

That summer glow is healthy, attractive and for some of us addictive! Although vitamin D contributes to our mental well-being, let’s remember to protect our precious skin from the rays. During the next few weeks we will be more exposed, and therefore less protected against long lasting skin damage.

What can sun exposure do to our skin?

  • Cause fine and coarse wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Precancerous and cancerous skin lesions
  • Discoloured areas of the skin
  • Elastosis (The decrease in elastic and collagen tissue)
  • Sagging skin
  • Speed up the aging process

On a sunny summer’s day, even if you’re just going the park for a picnic, remember that all outdoor activities will cause risk of sun exposure. To protect yourself just add a layer of protecting sunscreen to your morning beauty routine. It will only take a few seconds! Alternatively, you could wear a foundation that includes a high SPF.

Our skin is not only the only thing that needs TLC this season. So many people overlook their luscious lips! There’s nothing worse than chapped or burnt lips! Bright and bold lipsticks are essential for summer, but what’s more important is that your lovely new lippy contains SPF! A day to day lip balm containing an SPF of at least 15 would be great so your lips are plump and protected. As if you need an excuse to buy new make up!

At the end of a day in the sun, after gently removing your make up, use after sun or aloe Vera. This will help moisturise and hydrate the skin over night.
