Donna is a 36-year-old school worker from Kent. After having three children, she was left with a lot of excess skin that she couldn’t shift. In December 2020, she had a tummy tuck with Bella Vou. Here she shares her story.
I have three children, aged 15, 12 and eight. I put on a lot of weight each time I was pregnant, then lost it again afterwards, and after my third child I lost a lot of weight and was left with a lot of excess skin. No matter how much I trained at the gym, I couldn’t get rid of it. For seven years I considered having a tummy tuck, but I wanted to get my weight down to where I wanted it before having the op.
A lot of people thought I didn’t need to have a tummy tuck, because they didn’t realise quite how bad things were for me. I hid it a lot - on holiday I’d wear an all-in-one swimsuit with a kaftan over the top, which I’d put on as soon as I was out of the pool. I couldn’t wear tight clothing as it would show everything, and I used to wear a tight bodysuit underneath my clothing to suck it all up, so no one really saw what I was seeing. My friend came round one day and I sat down on the sofa and took the bodysuit off. My belly was on my lap, and once she saw that, she changed her mind completely and thought that I was doing the best thing.
I thought really hard about it and looked into my options. Bella Vou was actually the only clinic I properly looked into. I found out about them online, and I researched them further and read a lot of reviews and other patients’ stories. I had a zoom consultation with Amir Sadr, which was brilliant. I felt really at ease talking to him about what the procedure would be like - I’d watched videos and seen before and after pictures, but he went into even more detail and gave me a clear picture of what it would be like and how I’d look afterwards.

Bella Vou is fairly local to me, and I liked that I wouldn’t have to travel far, I’d only have to be in for one night, and I thought it looked and seemed very professional. Two weeks after meeting Amir Sadr, I went in for the surgery. I wanted to get it done before Christmas as I knew I could relax and recover then before going back to work (although I work at a school, and going into another lockdown meant that I fortunately had longer to recover after all).
I went in during peak pandemic, and it was quite scary knowing I’d have to go in on my own, but the team made me feel really relaxed. I started to feel a bit teary being there alone, but the nurse was so kind and caring, he was absolutely amazing, and made me feel much more at ease. After the surgery, the team checked up on me all through the night. I felt really looked after.
Because they were so supportive, I could barely tell that this was happening during the pandemic. The team is so professional, and the clinic doesn’t look like a hospital at all until you go into theatre. It was lovely - the waiting room is nicer than my living room! I had a nice room with an en suite and a TV, and the team offered to order me a takeaway from a local restaurant - they really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I wouldn’t mind going back just to spend a night there!

Since the Christmas holidays were approaching, I went in for a follow-up examination just five days later. I walked in, standing up straight, and Amir said he couldn’t believe how much I’d recovered in such a short space of time, which gave me reassurance that I was on the right track. I knew that if I had any problems at all I could get in touch. A blister came up on my scar and I texted them about it. Amir called me back straight away and reassured me that this was normal and that it would go - which it did within five days.

There was certain clothing I couldn’t wear before, but now I wear whatever I want. At the gym I wear tighter clothing - cycling shorts and a vest top - which I’d never have done before. I went into a shop recently with my 15-year-old daughter; we both had our cycling shorts on post-gym and the shop assistant asked if we were sisters! I definitely wouldn’t have gotten that a few months ago. I’ve worn a bikini for the first time since having my babies too!
Would I do it again? Definitely.

In November 2023 I booked a full abdominoplasty and vaser lipo with Amir. I visited for my initial consult and knew straight away that i had found the right surgeon, Amir was compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely professional. Fast forward to the 18th of January and my surgery day, Amir was understanding of how nerve wracking surgery can be and i felt at ease from the moment I walked into the building. I was in theatre a lot longer than planned due to an umbilical hernia and extra muscle repair, Amir is a perfectionist and made sure all was well and to his high standards before finishing the surgery. I’ve had a minor umbilical complication which is unfortunately one of the risks associated with this procedure. But the aftercare I have received from Amir and his team has been second to none and I could not be happier with my results. I look forward to my umbilical correction in a few months. I really cannot thank Amir enough and would recommend him to anyone looking for a cosmetic surgeon.

Amir is an amazing surgeon. He walked me through my breast augmentation step by step, making sure I understood all the risks and what my potential outcome could look like. I gained 5 stones in both of my pregnancies and breast fed for a year with each baby, and despite lots of hard work in the gym, there was no chance that my body would ever recover. At the age of 40, I have good muscle tone and low body fat (bmi of 20), but all of that was hidden under loose and saggy skin. I also had quite a large separation of my abdominal muscles, which meant my stomach protruded, despite being slim… I booked in for a circumferential tummy tuck, breast lift and implants and had my surgery at the end of November. It was a long operation (around 8 hours) and I stayed overnight at the clinic. There were really, *really* lovely nurses caring for me overnight… I’m 4 months ish post surgery and… my body looks AWESOME. Amir should work for Mattel, because he’s given me a body like Barbie. I’ve never had a body this good – even as an 18 year old my boobs weren’t this symmetrical and perky or my stomach this flat. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner. So, I can’t rate Amir highly enough, he really is a brilliant surgeon with an astute eye for what will suit his patients, but I also want to praise Bella Vou as a clinic overall. They have really created something special there with their approach, it feels like a boutique experience where they’ve literally anticipated every thing you might need… everyone is brilliant. I’ve seen Dr. Holmes at Bella Vou for Anti-Wrinkle Injections and tear trough filler. My experience couldn’t be more positive. I’ve previously had Anti-Wrinkle Injections and filler (though not tear trough filler) at another clinic near my home but wasn’t fully satisfied for reasons that I’ll come to. I then had surgery at Bella Vou last year and was so impressed with… well, everything… that I thought I’d try getting my aesthetic treatments done there, too… Tear trough filler was something I was nervous about from a pain perspective, but Dr Holmes used a cannula, and I barely even felt it. In contrast, my previous injector used a syringe for filler and I think this contributed to the discomfort and bruising. Most importantly, the results look fantastic. Very natural, but refreshed. Bella Vou is a 2 hour train or car journey for me, but I’m more than happy to do 4 hours of travel to receive such superior treatment. I can’t recommend Dr Holmes and Bella Vou enough.
