Dee, aged 39, and Bee, aged 41, are sisters from Hertfordshire who both suffered with a lot of loose skin following the birth of their children. After Bee made the decision to get a tummy tuck in March 2021, Dee decided to join her and have the same procedure on the same day. Here they share their journey.
Since having children in 2017 and 2018 respectively, Bee and Dee both struggled to get rid of excess skin. “I had a mummy pouch, a lot of loose skin and stretch marks,” says Dee. My confidence took a real hit, and I didn’t feel happy with how I looked in fitted dresses or jeans.”
Bee had a similar experience: “Despite exercising post-birth, I couldn’t get rid of the excess fat or skin, or improve my muscle tone. I didn’t like looking pregnant when I wasn’t, I didn’t like the appearance of my stomach post C-section and I couldn’t wear clothes confidently. It made me feel very down.”
Both sisters wanted to get rid of their “mum tums”, increase their core strength and improve their muscle tone, as no matter how hard they tried, they struggled to achieve this with exercise alone, despite trying a combination of cardio, weight training and lots of walking. “You have no control of how your body bounces from pregnancy,” says Dee. “I managed to lose the weight, but it’s that last bit. I couldn’t get rid of the loose skin and there’s nothing you can do by yourself about the muscle separation.”
My confidence took a real hit, and I didn’t feel happy with how I looked in fitted dresses or jeans.
Bee’s sister-in-law had recently had a tummy tuck, which inspired Bee to start her own research into the procedure. “My sister-in-law looked really good, so I booked in with her surgeon and even had a date for surgery,” says Bee. “But I decided to do a bit more of my own research, and I found a helpful group on Facebook. Amir’s name came up a lot, so I spoke to a couple of people who had had tummy tucks with him.”
“I had heard about and seen Amir’s amazing tummy tuck results on social media too,” says Dee, “I really liked the way he contoured the tummy, giving a toned result with feminine curves.”
“I built instant rapport on my Zoom consultation with Amir, and he answered all of my questions in detail,” says Bee. “I loved how he described the surgery, going into a lot of detail, which Dee and I both value as healthcare professionals ourselves. He was very realistic and took a 360-degree approach, working out how I would look from all angles, not just the front. I quickly changed my mind and decided to have my tummy tuck done by Amir instead.”

Dee had been considering getting a tummy tuck next year, but the sisters decided to both have the procedure at the same time. “The pre-surgical experience was absolutely amazing,” says Dee. “Every step was explained to me in great detail and all my questions were answered. My patient coordinator, Lisa, was fantastic and was there for me day and night. By the time I went into surgery, I felt like I knew exactly what to expect, and I was put at ease about the whole procedure.”
Bee and Dee travelled down to Tunbridge Wells together and had their surgery on the same day. They agree that they both felt excited but nervous on the day, and being together calmed their nerves, as did the “spa-like” atmosphere. “It wasn't a clinical white coat setting, it honestly felt like a spa and not like a hospital,” says Bee.
“My experience in surgery was fantastic,” says Dee. “I’d never had a medical surgery or general anaesthetic before and I was amazed that I didn’t experience any pain whatsoever.”
Both agree that the staff were friendly, helpful and reassuring. “All the pre- and post-surgery team at Bella Vou are amazing and magicians at what they do,” says Dee. Bee agrees: “The staff were so friendly. I felt in very safe hands. Amir, the anaesthetist and the nurses were all amazing.”

“The post-care experience was very thorough and professional,” says Dee. “I had a bit of sickness from the anaesthetic, and the nurses were so caring. They came and sorted me out, and gave me anti-sickness medication which worked wonders.”
Even so soon after the surgery, while they’re still experiencing the natural swelling that occurs during the healing process, the sisters are thrilled with the results. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!” says Bee. “It has been completely life-changing and I’ve never felt so confident about my body. My stomach had never been this flat, even pre-pregnancy.”
“It has definitely been worth it and by far the best thing that I have ever done, as it has helped me both physically and mentally,” says Dee. “I feel so much stronger and am able to do exercise that I couldn’t do post pregnancy, and I am so happy to be rid of my mum tum. It has also given me the core strength that I always wanted but never had, even before having my daughter.”
Both sisters have renewed their love for clothes, too. “I can’t stop buying new clothes now,” says Bee. “I feel and look so much better in everything I wear. I can tuck my clothes in and wear a belt with no muffin hanging over.” Dee agrees: “I feel so happy and confident now and can wear the clothes that I shied away from post pregnancy!”
So, would they recommend the procedure? “Absolutely,” says Dee. “Please put all your worries aside. This is the best thing that you can do for yourself, and you are in the best hands with Amir and the whole Bella Vou team. They really are the best at what they do.”

I had all three done same day… I had some revision surgery at about 15 months after the initial, some liposuction around the flanks, and some additional skin removed from the chest. This was included in my original fee as part of their revision policy, really great that Amir did this additional surgery for me…it really elevated my results especially in the chest area which is now everything I was hoping for, it’s literally removed all sagging whether stood up straight or leaning right over.
