With Mother’s day just around the corner you might be wondering what to get the most special person in your life for a gift to show her how much you love her, or alternatively you might just be feeling like treating yourself this mother’s day to a little ‘pick me up’. As mothers we often put everyone else before our own needs, but it is vitally important that you take time out for yourself to ensure your overall well being. We know it’s not always easy, but if you could just try and find 30-60 minutes a day of ‘me’ time you will reap the benefits. With this in mind we’ve come up with some treatments that will not eat up too much of your precious time, but will help you feel refreshed and revitalised.
Has your skin become dull and grey? Not having the time to pay attention to our skin and hormone changes can leave it lacking radiance. You may also have found that the creams and lotions that worked for you before are no longer showing any benefit. Sometimes our skin has a build up of dead skin cells that could benefit from a stronger form of exfoliating.
TCA is a non-toxic chemical (trichloracetic acid) and has been used to perform skin peels for over 20 years. It is in the vinegar family (acetic acid.) When applied to the skin, the chemical reaction encourages the top layers of the skin cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days to one week. When the old skin has sloughed off, it then exposes a new layer of undamaged and baby soft skin, which has a smoother texture and more even colour.
Dermal Fillers & Anti-Wrinkle Injections
So what exactly is the difference between the two and what is the right treatment for you? Dermal fillers are generally used to plump out lines and add volume to an area of your face that may have lost fat due to ageing. Whereas, anti wrinkle injections work to freeze the area of concerns to help prevent the formation of wrinkles deepening temporarily. Some people only need one treatment or the other, whilst some may benefit from a combination of both. At your consultation our highly qualified medical team member will complete an assessment of your face and muscle structure and advise you on the best course of treatment based on your individual needs.
How long do Anti Wrinkle injections take to work/last?
The solution will start to take effect within 5 days and wears off after approximately 4 months. It is helpful to remember that anti-wrinkle injections do not provide a permanent effect because it allows ongoing treatment, which can be tailored or discontinued as your face naturally ages.

There is a very wide range of products currently available and the most usual component in modern wrinkle fillers is hyaluronic acid. This substance is found naturally in almost all body tissues. When injected as a filler, it is immediately effective in correcting creases and is slowly absorbed over 6-12 months.
If you have been inspired by the current trend of the fuller pout, then you’re not alone. Lip Fillers have increasingly gained in popularity in the last couple of years and in particular with younger women, but did you know that lip fillers can also be used to correct irregularities in your lips such as, an uneven cupid’s bow or uneven sides to your lips?
If you want to slightly increase the size of your lips, but you’re concerned they will be too big and won’t look natural then talk to our Aesthetic Nurse at your consultation and she will be able to give you expert advice on what will look best to suit your face shape. Lip fillers typically last around 4-6 months. In some cases, the duration of the effects can be a bit shorter or longer.
Sclerotherapy is a form of treatment that involves our renowned Aesthetic nurse Sue Mitchell injecting a solution into blood vessels or lymph vessels that causes them to shrink. It is commonly used to treat varicose veins or so-called spider/thread veins. The procedure is non-surgical, requiring only an injection. The solution irritates the vessel, causing it to swell. This swelling cuts off the flow of blood or lymphatic fluid and the vessel shrinks. There is bruising following the treatment and you will be required to wear support tights. You may also need more than one treatment depending on how your body responds.
