The mons pubis, also known as the pubic area or mons, is the fatty tissue located above the pubic bone. The fat in this area can reach a size that makes some women self-conscious and uncomfortable while wearing tight-fitting clothing such as leggings, skinny jeans, swimsuits, underwear, and tight dresses. This can be successfully corrected with surgery.
The accumulated fat in the genital area is sometimes excessive and, furthermore, refuses to disappear when weight is lost. This can cause a shift in the position and shape of the vagina. In such cases, the solution involves reducing the fatty tissue of the mons pubis.
Pubis liposculpture can correct this vaginal displacement and gives the area a more youthful appearance. The procedure is quickly completed (lasting between 30 minutes and an hour) and is usually carried out under local anaesthetic and/or sedation, unless accompanied by further surgery such as more liposculpture, abdominoplasty, etc. In such cases, your surgeon will decide which kind of anaesthetic is appropriate.
