Lip Enhancement, Fillers and Augmentation
|Addresses||Lack of volume, deep lines, irregular shaped or thin lips|
Our Lips are the focal point of our face. Full lips are often associated with youthfulness and sensuality, but for most of us it is not uncommon to see lips thin and develop deep lines with age. Lip enhancement, also known as Lip Augmentation or Lip Enlargement, is a procedure which involves adding volume to the lip either by permanent lip implants such as PermaLip™, or via an injectable lip filler. This gives lips a fuller appearance and reduces the fine lines and wrinkles. It will help effectively fight the signs of ageing, improve your smile, and leave your lips looking wonderfully natural.

Is this right for me?
If you have lost volume in your lips and have gradually noticed fine lines and wrinkles or have small lips naturally, then lip enhancement can improve your appearance and boost your confidence.
Various techniques are used to enhance your cupid bow or just simply add volume and shape to your lip. Sometimes both upper and lower lips are enlarged to create harmony and balance between the lips and the face.
In our clinic we listen to your concerns and aim to achieve the look you are after. Over the years the popularity of lip enlargement has grown and now it can be performed for upper lip, lower lip or both and sometimes in conjunction with other cosmetic surgical procedures.
What the procedure involves
Juvederm lip filler is injected to add volume to the lip to enhance the vermilion border and to improve the cupids bow. The volume is injected directly under the skin and more can be added to achieve the desired look. Most non-permanent fillers tend to last 4 to 6 months. The process can then be repeated if desired. The swelling will generally last a day.
Under local anaesthetic the lip will be numbed with with a quick dental injection for your comfort. Once anaesthetised, two small incisions are made just inside the corners of the mouth where it can not be seen. A small tunnel is made under the skin of the lip where the soft silicone Permalip implant is passed through. Once in place the incisions inside the mouth are closed with absorbable sutures. The procedure takes approximately just 20 to 30 minutes. The tiny incisions heal quickly and are invisible from the outside of your mouth.
There will be some swelling for a few days but it subsides quickly to leave a natural fuller looking lip that doesn't need topping up after just a few short months. The Permalip lip implant often gives a more naturally looking fuller lip compared with lip fillers which can sometimes push the lip forward.
Your plastic surgeon will arrange follow up with you in about a week to check your results and healing. Both upper and lower lips can be augmented permanently. Lip augmentation can be performed with other surgical procedures. Lip filler can also be added should you wish to have a temporary boost.
