A chemical peel involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. Chemical peel treatment effectively combats wrinkles, lines, acne scars and rough skin and reveals refreshed and regenerated skin after treatment which is smoother and more radiant.

Is this right for me?

If you feel that your skin is lacking radiance and the signs of ageing are beginning to
take its toll, you may find that your appearance can be refreshed with this simple,
convenient treatment. You may be unsure about more complex treatments and perhaps
you don’t yet feel ready for anti wrinkle injections or dermal fillers in which case a
chemical peel may be the right treatment for you.

What the procedure involves

All chemical peels are carried out by our cosmetic specialists. The treatment is completed in the comfort of our Pantiles clinic and you will be consulted and examined fully prior to the treatment. There are some instances where chemical peel treatment wouldn't be recommended, these include where active skin disease is identified or in patients that are pregnant or breast feeding.

Chemical peels can sting a little but do not cause a great deal of discomfort. We are able to provide our patients with analgesia prior to treatment and to take home as required.

At Bella Vou, we provide two types of chemical peel which are a superficial peel and a Full chemical peel:

Superficial Chemical Peel

A superficial peel, sometimes known as a lunchtime peel involves the use of an Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only the outer layer of the sin to gently exfoliate it. At Bella Vou we use superficial peel called Obagi Blue Peel Radiance, that has little or no downtime and can be used on all skin types. It provides an immediate improvement and can demonstrate continued improvement with a series of peels. The treatment is used to improve the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth and eyes, mild discolouration and rough skin as well as to refresh the appearance of the face, neck, chest or hands.

Full Chemical Peel

A full Chemical Peel involves the application of Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid which penetrates the outer to middle layers of the skin. As a result of the intensive skin reparation treatment being performed, it has more down time than compared with the Obagi Blue radiance peel and other facial treatments such as Bðtox or Dermal Fillers, as a Full chemical peel addresses the deeper skin layers/structures. The results can be stunning though. A chemical peel can address similar concerns as Bðtox and fillers, e.g thinning out lines and wrinkles, aside from a Peel usually providing significantly longer lasting results than fillers and Bðtox, a Full Chemical Peel is more versatile than just dealing with wrinkles, it is also effective treatment for the following:

  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, lips and eyes
  • Skin discolouration / pigmentation
  • Rough or bumpy Skin
  • Acne scars

What does Chemical Peel surgery involve?

Face-Hexagon

All chemical peels are carried out by our cosmetic specialists within our boutique Cosmetic surgery clinic in the Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells. You’ll be consulted and examined fully prior to the treatment by a Skincare specialist or consultant plastic surgeon. The full Chemical Peel requires some special skin preparation beforehand for a period of 4-6 weeks prior to Chemical Peel being applied by the specialist aesthetics nurse or surgeon. This is vital to condition the skin ready to receive the Peel treatment. Upon initial consultation, you will be provided with a specialist Obagi skincare range, which you’ll need to apply as instructed in the lead up to the treatment being performed. This will enable you to achieve maximum results and to ensure a noticeable improvement in the skin.
