Brow Lift Cosmetic Surgery (Forehead lift)
|Addresses||Wrinkles, lines and sagging skin on the forehead and around the brow|
As we age the soft tissue in the brow tends to deflate causing a descent and laxity of the brow. Brow lift surgery involves a combination of lower eye bag removal and upper lid blepharoplasty and brow re-positioning are common cosmetic surgery methods to rejuvenate the upper face.
Is this right for me?
As we age, the skin above our eyes to start to lose its elasticity, causing the skin to sag, causing the eyes to look tired and the face to look old. Brow lift surgery is a cosmetic procedure that lifts the area directly above the eye giving the face a more youthful appearance.
What the procedure involves
Brow lifts are performed under general anesthetic meaning most patients can go home after the procedure the same or the next day. The surgery involves placing several short incisions in the hairline. Using an endoscope (a narrow light telescope and camera, through which the procedure is performed with small special instruments) the forehead skin is lifted and repositioned and fixed into your desired place.
You may consider a brow lift if:
- Your eyebrow creates a tired, sad or grumpy appearance
- You have deep horizontal creases across the forehead
- You have frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows or across the top of your nose
- You have excess skin hanging over your eyes
What does Brow Lift Surgery & Blepharoplasty treatment involve?
Brow lift surgery carries minimal risk. Some of the potential complications that may occur (though highly unlikely) include hematoma (an accumulation of blood under the skin), infection, and reactions to anesthetic. Forehead Lift incisions are usually quite inconspicuous and hidden from view; however, this is not entirely predictable due to individual variations in healing. Upper eyelid skin is usually tightened and lifted as an added benefit following brow lift surgery.
Brow Lift Surgery and Blepharoplasty Recovery
After the surgery, initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medication. Swelling in the upper face is common in the first 5 days following brow lift surgery, however swelling gradually diminishes daily. Sutures or staples are removed within 10 days with most swelling and bruising gone in 7-10 days.
Botox can result in slight elevation of the eyebrows, but those results would be much more subtle and shorter term than the long lasting results you would get from brow lift surgery. Although brow lift surgery offers a long lasting solution to combat the signs of ages, there is no guarantee that your wrinkles will go away as the main benefit of brow lift surgery is lifting of the brow with secondary lifting of upper eyelid skin.25th February 2015 28th February 2017
