A Mummy Makeover is a combination of cosmetic procedures that restore your before-pregnancy appearance. Plastic surgery and non-surgical procedures after pregnancy are geared towards the improvement of post-pregnancy changes to a woman’s body. Many mothers do not have the luxury of long recovery periods after surgery, so treatment plans are designed so that you can get back to family life and normal activities as quickly as possible.

A Mummy Makeover usually involves a combination of surgical and non surgical procedures including:

Tummy Tuck

A Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) is a plastic surgery procedure that removes loose skin and excessive fat from the lower abdomen, as well as tightening the abdominal muscles for improved contour, tone and function of the abdomen. It is best to postpone surgery until you plan no more children and your weight is stable.

Breast Augmentation

After pregnancy and breastfeeding it is common for women to lose breast volume, leaving breasts smaller and “deflated”, with skin loosing elasticity and downward movement or ‘sagging’ of the breasts. Breast Augmentation, through the use of implants, allows the fullness of the breasts to be restored, while regaining shape and volume.

Facial

Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers: Lines and wrinkles can be effectively addressed with little or no down time with anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Anti-wrinkle injections work by reducing facial muscle activity and dermal fillers work by restoring volume to fill depressions and hollows.

Breast Uplift

Known as Mastopexy, breast lifts are an ideal post pregnancy cosmetic procedure to correct saggy, limp breasts to make them appear firmer. The level of sagginess varies between women, with some noticing that the nipples have dropped, while in extreme cases, the nipples can point toward the floor.

Augmentation Mastopexy

This is a combined Breast Lift and Implant. Augmentation mastopexy corrects the breast changes that can occur after pregnancies, breast feeding and major weight fluctuations. It is the optimal surgical procedure when your breasts are small as well as droopy (“ptosis”) with loose skin. If the amount of loose skin is minor, this may be corrected using breast implants alone to “re-inflate” the breasts. However, when the looseness is greater than this, then augmentation mastopexy is required. If your breast volume is adequate but the breast have loosened and drooped, then mastopexy alone, without breast implants, may be the correct procedure for you.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat areas, reshaping and contouring your body. The hormonal changes that come with pregnancy and lactation cause women’s bodies to store excess fat, particularly in the abdomen, thighs and buttocks. It is important to note that Liposuction is not a weight loss tool, and is best done close to your ideal weight and fitness. It is often performed in conjunction with other cosmetic surgeries to improve body contour such as Tummy Tuck or cosmetic Breast Augmentation. Breast and tummy reshaping procedures can often be performed together, to reduce the overall recovery time and achieve dramatic changes under one general anaesthetic.

Pigmentation

Changes in the skin colour and texture can be refined, refreshed, and beautified with facial, peels.

There are many options available to combat the challenges posed to your body after having a baby desires. After a thorough discussion of your goals, desires and expectations, our expert team of cosmetic surgeons can recommend a post-pregnancy treatment plan that is tailored specifically for you.
