Concept™ Facelift Q&A with Amir Nakhdjevani

Amir Nakhdjevani, consultant plastic surgeon at Bella Vou Pantiles Clinic in Tunbridge Wells, gives us the lowdown on his ‘walk in, walk out’ Concept™ Facelift.

How did the Concept™ Facelift come about?

One of the most common deterrents for many of my patients considering a traditional facelift is the lengthy recovery time. So I listened to them; and managed to find an effective way to give customers the look they wanted, without having to take weeks off work to hide their bruised and swollen recovery.

Who is a good candidate for a Concept™ Facelift?

If your skin is loose, developing wrinkles, sagging around the mid-face or creating the appearance of jowls due to dropped fat deposits then a Concept™ Facelift can help.

How can you be sure that this procedure lasts as long as a traditional facelift, if it’s only been developed in the last 18 months?

The key to long lasting results for traditional facelifts is in the effective tightening of the foundation of the face, restoring the muscle layer while addressing both volume and the skin are what makes for a long lasting facelift. The Concept™ Facelift is no different, but effectively addresses the negative downside of traditional facelifts.

Are patients anxious about undergoing a new procedure and under local anaesthetic?

Understandably, yes – the thought of a new procedure can be daunting, not to mention a facial one that you can’t hide if it goes wrong! In the past 18 months, I have performed over 400 successful Concept™ Facelift procedures and the majority of patients are surprised at easy and pain free it was, typically it’s not dissimilar to the initial little prick that you experience at the dentist with a local anaesthetic.

What does the procedure involve?

I believe a good surgeon treats no two faces the same, which is why I carefully assess the intricacies of your face and plan a procedure that will flatter and rejuvenate you, without too stark a difference postoperatively.
Typically, the procedure lasts between 2-3 hours and is performed under local anaesthetic. The Concept™ Facelift involves tightening the layers of muscle under the skin, as well as the skin itself in order to leave you with long lasting results. Not only is it virtually painless, but you will be home the same day too.

So, what is different between a traditional facelift and a Concept™ Facelift?

Traditionally, facelifts are carried out under general anaesthetic with bandages, drains and staples on the scar that extends into the hair. Not only does this approach result in heavier scarring, but also excessive bruising and swelling and an extensive recovery time of 4-6 weeks with at least 2 weeks off work.

The Concept™ Facelift is a full facelift and is performed as a ‘walk in, walk out’ procedure carried out under local anaesthetic, leaving a smaller scar and using no bandages, drains or staples. Bruising is minimal if any, and you can be back to work within days. The Concept™ Facelift creates a natural, youthful and fresh appearance and lasts as long as traditional facelifts! As a result, Concept has been trademarked and I am the only surgeon in the country offering the Concept™ Facelift.
