The Vagina Bible: Everything you should know about your lady garden!

Young woman with flower on colour background

Despite its popular name used, the term vagina isn’t actually the correct name usage for the external parts of your sexual anatomy. The vagina itself is in fact the tube that connects the vulva to the cervix and uterus.

In this weeks blog we break down the facts and myths you may not be aware of when it comes to your lady garden. We also talk about the Labia Reduction (Labiaplasty) procedure which has seen an increase in popularity over the last few years. But how well do you actually know your vagina?

Do celebrities have a moral obligation to come clean about plastic surgery?

Disguised celebrity hiding facelift surgery

With the media being saturated with celebrities looking preened to perfection, we are often left wondering if they’ve had any extra help in the looks department.

Some celebrities who have come clean and confessed to using surgery or aesthetic methods to enhance their looks have come under fire for their decision not to be happy with who they are and appreciate the looks they were born with.

In this week’s blog we hear from Chrissie Teigen, Ariel Winter and Sharon Osbourne who have all admitted to having cosmetic surgery, and their reasons for doing so. We also answer some questions that are commonly asked such as:

  • Why do people have cosmetic surgery?
  • Who should you tell when deciding on having cosmetic surgery?
  • Should you hide your surgery from your work?

Concerned about how your scars will look after surgery?

Young woman with scarring on shoulder

Scars can form when the deep, thick layer of skin called the dermis is damaged due to trauma. The body goes into action and forms new collagen, which is a naturally occurring protein in the body to mend the damage caused by the trauma, resulting in a scar.

We asked our lead plastic surgeon, Mr Amir Nakhdjevani to discuss how they are formed and how Bella Vou can help revise most scars. We’ll also be answering some great questions commonly asked by our patients such as:

  • What is Keloid scarring?
  • What is Scar Revision surgery?
  • What can I do to help my scars heal?
  • What does the Concept™ Facelift or Tummy Tuck scar look like?

Why going commando could be good for your vagina

New York women’s health expert and Gynaecologist, Dr. Donnica Moore has warned that wearing underwear can increase the risk of women devolving vaginal infections. Moore says that a build-up of heat and sweat due to lack of airflow creates the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. If your underwear is made of lace or a non-breathable material, the risks can be increased. The materials can also irritate the delicate skin of your vagina and can be responsible for causing rashes and allergic reactions.

In this week’s blog we help answer your questions about the best ways to keep yourself fresh and healthy ‘down there’, including:

  • How should I be taking care of my vagina?
  • If I’m in discomfort, would I be suitable for Labiaplasty?
  • What is Labiaplasty and what are the different surgical methods?

We also ask our lead surgeon, Amir Nakhdjevani, to explain the procedure and how it can help you if you’re concerned about your labia.

Collage portrait of man with facial hair beard shaved

This may come as a shock, but men live on average 3-6 years less than women, but by helping to raise awareness of male related illnesses with your male loved ones, you could well help to save or prolong their lives.

We understand that it’s not always easy to have these discussions with your loved ones as some of the content matter can be somewhat sensitive for you both to talk about especially if it’s your Dad or Brother. So at Bella Vou we have written this blog containing all the information they may need so that you can send it on to your loved ones and ask them to take the time to read it, check themselves and follow it up with an appointment with their general practitioner if they have any concerns.

Featured in this blog about raising awareness for male related illnesses are cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments that Bella Vou can help with, for those who are looking to be able to take part in Movember, including:

  • Hair Transplant
